I think from the perspective of ACC fans, ND has already been here.

The five games a year with ND gives the perception that ND is pretty much already in the Conference. It's just the ND not playing the remaining schedule that denies it's coaches and players from competing for the ACC Championship. So the fact that ND is actually playing a full schedule this year should feel different for ND fans, but to ACC fans it's not much of a change.

Now I don't think people want to force ND to join. We don't want anyone here to doesn't want to be here. I also don't know if the ACC is ready for ND right away since we haven't done the work to find a #16 to come into the league at the same time. We'd have to get the NCAA to allow conferences to schedule like we are this year to do so. That requires a rules change on Conference Championship Games. But a ND announcement of their intent to join would set the search in motion I think.
